Morning View: Karen Mulligan, Agent + Executive Director, Annie Leibovitz

Karen received her undergraduate degree from Sophie Newcomb College at Tulane University. After college, Karen worked in publishing as an editorial assistant while she pursued my PhD in American Literature.  In 1997, after receiving her Masters Degree from New York University, she put her PhD on hold. In this same year, she started to work with the photographer Annie Leibovitz. The world of photography was new to her and her first project with Leibovitz was to do research, and produce smaller shoots for a book she was working on with the writer Susan Sontag.  This book,  Women, was a two-year project and the beginning of an education in the world of photography, publishing, exhibitions, art, and fashion.

From production assistant, she was promoted to studio manager, and then executive producer, followed by agent, business manager and executive director of exhibitions, books, and special projects.

Over the last 20 years, she has produced 2000+ shoots for Vogue, Vanity Fair and luxury and corporate brands such as Moncler, Prada, Dunhill, Louis Vuitton, American Express and UBS, among others.  She has overseen all aspects of eight books with the publishers Random House, Taschen and Phaidon and coordinated five global museum tours traveling to over 50 countries.
